"And May We Dance For Evermore"

Night had once again fallen; Aurora noted this and turned back to look at Dawn. "Shall we?"
Dawn grinned. "Of course! It's been almost a week since we went anywhere."
Their decision mutual, Dawn and Aurora dressed up in their fancier clothes and went to the nearby village to mess with the villagers.

Unlike usual, many of the lights in the village square were out. They had been broken by something - possibly rocks - in the past few days. As the two walked into the middle of the square, where an old fountain was, the sounds of a piano reached Aurora's ears. She and Dawn almost immediately wanted to dance to the tune, and seeing as nobody was around, they did.
People started to appear, dressed in their richest finery, dancing in a high-paced waltz, spinning round and round..
The music became louder and more complicated; the dancing reached a higher tempo and the villagers surrounding them grew paler. A vanilla scent filled the air...
Aurora realized what was happening much later than she normally would have.

The music abruptly stopped; the villagers slowed and stopped. Dawn barely had enough time to also notice what was happening before another song started to play. A group of cellists seemed to be playing the song somewhere around everyone, and the music increased quickly in pace. Dawn and Aurora found themselves dancing again...
As the tempo sped up, flashes of a strange person in the crowd of black-clad people reached Aurora's eyes. The person flitted from one spot to the other faster than their eyes could follow, and as the song drew to an abrupt stop, the only person left was the one stranger, with their hands up above them, ankles crossed as if they had completed some sort of gymnastic flip.
The stranger turned around; it was a light-skinned, long-haired, svelte man clad in black. A pair of black feathered wings unfurled from behind the man and he looked up to the two of them with dark eyes.

Dawn felt something draw her to the man, and when she was within his grasp, another, very slow dance began. With each small tap of a cymbal, they took a step, and the music and slow tempo began to bring Dawn into a trance…
Aurora, too, felt herself drawn into the song. At some point while she watched Dawn and the other being, a second, wingless man had appeared, and they had begun to dance in the same manner, hips swaying slightly with each step...
Time passed, and Dawn began to feel herself falling asleep. Something in her mind told her that something was wrong, but the slow music and gradual motions that had brought her into the trance allowed those feelings to seep away...and her eyes closed, the world blurring into nothing...
From the opposite side of the vast village square, Aurora saw the winged man spread his wings and, carrying Dawn, glide away on an updraft. Something fell back to the ground; as the music stopped, Aurora ran to get it.
It was Dawn's head, cheeks marked by bloodied tears.
Within the scent of vanilla, the air held hints of the scent of death.
A song for the conclusion...
